چکیده

Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is a rare idiopathic condition that leads to the acute onset of neurological deficits, which can have catastrophic consequences if not recognized early. It is important to make an early precise diagnosis. Spinal epidural hematoma has been increasingly recognized since the advent of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, T1and T2-weighted gradient-echo sequences are relatively less sensitive to the magnetic susceptibility effects of hemorrhage. Echo-planar gradient-echo T2*-weighted MR imaging (T2* MRI) is sensitive to these magnetic susceptibility effects and is commonly used for the detection of hemorrhage. We reported that the case of a 76-year-old man who presented with tetra paresis had an early diagnosis of spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma early diagnosed by T2* MRI.

Acute spinal subdural hematoma: MR and CT findings with pathologic correlates.

PURPOSE To determine the MR and CT findings that characterize acute spinal subdural hematoma (ASSH). METHODS The MR, CT, and clinical findings in three patients with surgically proved ASSH were reviewed and also correlated with the postmortem MR, CT, and cryomicrotome findings in three other patients, two with ASSH and one with an acute spinal epidural hematoma. RESULTS Imaging findings in ...

Assessment of hemorrhage in pituitary macroadenoma by T2*-weighted gradient-echo MR imaging.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Intratumoral hemorrhage occurs frequently in pituitary macroadenoma and manifests as pituitary apoplexy and recent or old silent hemorrhage. T2*-weighted gradient-echo (GE) MR imaging is the most sensitive sequence for the detection of acute and old intracranial hemorrhage. T2*-weighted GE MR imaging was used to investigate intratumoral hemorrhage in pituitary macroadenom...

[Spontaneous spinal subdural hematoma: MRI findings in two cases].

Spontaneous spinal subdural hematoma is an uncommon finding. This report of two cases of spinal subdural hematoma (one hyperacute and one subacute) discusses the current theory of how it develops, the MRI findings, its differentiation from spinal epidural hematoma, and the value of MRI in monitoring patients undergoing conservative treatment. The most significant MRI findings in the hyperacute ...

Diffusion-Weighted MR Imaging of Intracerebral Hemorrhage

OBJECTIVE To document the signal characteristics of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) at evolving stages on diffusion-weighted images (DWI) by comparison with conventional MR images. MATERIALS AND METHODS In our retrospective study, 38 patients with ICH underwent a set of imaging sequences that included DWI, T1-and T2-weighted imaging, and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR). In 33 and 1...

Spontaneous intracerebral hematoma on diffusion-weighted images: influence of T2-shine-through and T2-blackout effects.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE On diffusion-weighted (DW) images, primary hematomas are initially mainly hyperintense, and then hypointense during the first few days after stroke onset. As in other brain disorders, variations in the T2 relaxation time of the hematoma influence the DW imaging signal intensity. Our aim was to evaluate the contribution of the T2 signal intensity and apparent diffusion coe...
